graphic design - final outcomes

below are the final pieces i created during the graphic design workshop last week. we were charged with creating four a4 designs to represent different words. the four words i chose were 'cascade', 'collapse', 'isolation' and 'migrate'. our brief was to create pieces relating to the words without being too literal and illustrative with them. the designs are based upon collages we created using old magazines and used envelopes. we then scanned them in and added different effects and type on photoshop. photoshop allows for a variety of different text effects and fonts, meaning i was able to create a multitude of different shapes and textures within the typeface. i was very impressed with my designs and feel as though the succeed in conveying the meaning of the words i chose.

'cascade'

'collapse'

 'isolation'

'migrate'

i really enjoyed graphic design. i entered the foundation course believing that there was a chance i might chose to specialise in the pathway and last week's workshop didn't put me off the subject at all! i really enjoy all areas of design but particularly liked experimenting with shapes and text last week. i also enjoyed the atmosphere in the graphic design studio and felt as though our tutor managed to encourage and inspire us as well as maintain a relaxed atmosphere. there are a couple of other subject areas which i am also interesting in specialising in, but i'm enthusiastic about being able to infuse different parts of each subject into my future projects, regardless of the pathway i do eventually chose to specialise in - a practise highly encouraged by the staff at the college.
