fine art - day two

i enjoyed the second day of fine art much more than the first. we were given more freedom to experiment with 3d projects and were given a lot less direction. i find this work much more liberating and enjoy working in these conditions and believe that i produce work of a higher standard. after attending a lecture by cristoph zellweger, a swiss jeweller and sculptor who preached that fine art has no boundaries and anything can become anything with a pinch of creativity. inspired by zellweger, i decided that i wanted to approach ways of turning art into wearable pieces of jewellery. i found a piece of old slate which had been discarded by builders working on the new part of the college building. i decided to glue images that i felt represented the growth of the modern world onto one side of the slate, aiming to represent how beautiful handcrafted objects are thrown away every day to make way for disposable, manufactured modern design. i also projected the image of a pelvis onto a sheet of sugar paper and created a stencil with it. entering my foundation year, i already believed that i might end up choosing to specialise in the fine art pathway. although i haven't enjoyed this workshop as much as i'd hoped i am still considering the fact that i might want to choose it when the time comes.
